The Panther Robotics Team started their 2010 season on Saturday, January 9th. This year's game is called Breakaway. Teams earn points by shooting soccer balls into small goals and by hanging on a tower. This week, the team started brainstorming and prototyping ideas for this year's challenge.

The Website Committee has begun working on the new 2010 site. The site will be updated and running soon. The team's progress this year is being documented by the audio visual committee. A weekly video diary of the team's progress will be posted on the website.

The Programming Committee has been working on converting last year's code to this year's software. This will allow the programming team to work with the camera that will recognize targets above the goals.

Our Community Outreach Committee has begun work to assist victims of the Haiti earthquake. This includes collecting Heart-to-Heart care packages and accepting monetary donations for this cause. Other community work includes members of the team mentoring local middle school LEGO robotics teams.

Members of the team have been selling beads and glow sticks at home sporting events. Proceeds will enable the team to continue their community outreach efforts and travel to the Dallas Regional in March.

This week new members have started taking safety tests. Safety is very important to our team and all members must pass these tests before they are allowed to operate machinery and work on our robot.

Some decisions regarding our team shirts and buttons were made this week. Our buttons and team shirts will commemorate our founding mentor, Dean Scherman. This is just one example of what the marketing committee does for our team.

Many parents provided snacks and meals for our team this week. We are very appreciative of all of the support we received.
